We get to dress up at work for Halloween and I want to do something that will make everyone want to make excuses to pass through my out-of-the-way corner of the office to sneak a look-see. However...I'm having a creative BLOCK. I can't come up with anything...and I'm running out of time. I won't have much time to make anything and my bank account is less than bulging with cash because of all the moving expenses.

I work for a TV listings company...so it's not required, but something that could be considered related to television or movies would gain points for me...and I think my attempts to come up with something from this genre is what's giving me such hassle.

Anyway...any pointers, ideas, donations/b-day gifts/lending would be GREATLY apreciated.

I also can decorate my work area....

And I have the option to enter the costume and work area contests to win prizes....CASH prizes...which would be ideal for buying ALCOHOL to share with my burner-buds...*cough*.... so...like I said before...

Any ideas?

*hope love and firelight*

    I GOT IT!!!!!

I'm either doing The bride of Frankenstein ( or I'll be one of the brides of Dracula--as I have the perfect dress and it would be uber easy). I can really get behind these because they're a literary character first and foremost--but they also fit for work's tv/movie theme.

Also--there is a pumpkin carving contest (yeah, I know they're really getting competitive around here, ugg.) Anyway, because I'm the artistic one in my department (read on my side of the BUILDING) my boss snatched me up for his team...even though I wasn't planning on participating. I agreed to have my name on his team roster but I didn't want to cut or really have any responsiblity in the contest--but my boss knows me. I can't just sit back and let an opportunity for art pass me by. As usual, my boss keeps me on the front lines for ideas and creative progress (rather than risk me getting snatched up by another team lol). Our team couldn't decide what to do. They had a meeting about it while I was out sick and couldn't come up with anything. I came up with the idea to carve Mrs Frankie into the pour gourd and since we were joking about me being the team mascot--I decided it would be fun to dress as her. I'm having trouble finding a pattern for the pumpkin that I like that I'm not going to have to use my credit card and 10 bucks to acquire. --10 bucks for a membership to download a stencil just seems a bit steep to me.

If I can collect the stuff I'd also like to decorate my corner like the Frankenstein Castle--but leave it to me to come up with a genius idea cutting it so close. If any of you have and deco you can lend the gypsy I'd be eternally greatfull...otherwise I'll have to stretch my 15 dollar costume budget into decorations as well.

Theoretically the costume should be rather easy. A glorified smock and arm gauze...but if I can I'd like to make my costume as glamorous as I can manage. Ideas? Suggestions? Contributions? I've got a few ideas swimming around in my head--but I'm running short on time and money. Yay obstacles. Normally I'd be less needy in this department...I guess I've been off my game lately.

    As always,
Thanks for all of your help and ideas.

I haven't watched the movie in ages...I'll have to watch it to get a better feel for her look and manorisms. hehe...this is kinda close--I had considered dressing as Lily Munster.

Yay...so I'm stuck doing bride of Frankenstein because that's the stencil my department decided on for the carving contest--I'll save dracula's bride for something later. My hair is pretty much taken care of---I'm still stuck on the dress issue. I may be sewing a sheet to do my bidding in being the best Elsa Lancaster I can be--but if anyone has anything that is close that I can borrow or pattern after let me know. Otherwise--that's basically all that's left to do.

I'm pleased--my costume turned out pretty awesome. I've had TONS of people ask to take my picture and complement me. There are some pretty cool costumes today...but I atleast have a chance at winning something in the contest.

Our pumpkin turned out awesome...and my desk looks amazing. I'll post pictures when I can.

    Thanks for all the help.
