I remember reading about this awesome event! Wasn't the qualification to get in that the car can't cost more than $500 or be worth more than that much? Wonder how many made it the whole 24hrs.

    Here you go....

Now we just need a $200 car and someone who can weld a safety cage in it. ( any modifications can't exceed $500, that includes the cost of the car)

    YEE-HAW IT'S LeMONS TEXAS '08

    Race Weekend: 18-19 October 2008

    Entry Deadline: 9 August 2008

Tentative Schedule: Two endurance sessions separated by nighttime break--hours TBA

    THE CARS

Lights: Headlights, taillights, and sidemarkers removed or completely taped over

Side and Rear Glass: No restrictions

    Noise Limit: 92dB @ 50 feet

    PITS & PADDOCK

Overnight Camping: OK, $50 per occupied RV (covers the whole weekend)

    Vehicle Restrictions: None

    Pit Assignments: First-come, first-served

    Barbecues Allowed: Yes

Bathrooms: Lots of portable poo closets, one permanent outhouse w/ shower

    Electrical Hookups: Very limited

Pit Hours: Dark & quiet after midnight

    THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Closest Airports: Houston Hobby (HOU) is handier than George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), but either will do

Weather: Expect lingering warmth during the day and pleasant cooling at night. Unless there's a hurricane. Oh, and by the way, we do race in hurricanes

    Lodging: TBA

    DIRECTIONS

Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Road Course is a half-hour from downtown Houston on Highway 288, about 13 miles south of the Highway 6 interchange. From 288 South, take the South CR48 (not regular CR48) Exit and head toward that big racetracky-looking thing.

I was reading, the $500 does not include safety equipment, so you are good on that. Shane is definitely in to help w/ the car & the event. I'm in to help, too, & I'm MOST DEFINITELY in for the crew -it's $75 for each crew/pit person. I'll head down Friday, spend time w/ family & then camp out at the event Saturday & Sunday.

WNB has a car in my driveway. Shane can fix it. Oh - but I think Mike said he actually wants to drive it, so maybe that's out.

Very cool! I can't wait. I hope you win!
