Re: so what is the low down on Dallas salvage yards
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 2:54 PMman I used to go a lot in my teens and early 20's are you talking auto salvage or home or scrap metal or what???
probably not much help since its been so long but am curious as well
if you are looking for auto parts lots of that are web based now also... Mike uses them for parts I know and I have checked them out.. basically you email them what you want they price it send them money they run out and yank it off and send it to you.
works for alternators and such probably not for a Chevy block :-)

Re: so what is the low down on Dallas salvage yards
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 4:22 PMdo a map search for auto salvage, there are about 5 in the area that I can think of that are pick and pull. Most auto salvage places have reduced if any Saturday hours, but I am in if people are going.
Another (better) option is to look at www.car-parts.com, it is a database of auto salvage places, you can search for the car part for your model, and just look for the cheapest one, and they will ship it to you. You can also call the place with the low prices, and they will sometimes have other parts, since the parts usually come off a donor car. -

I use to own a salvage yard!
and I just crawled out from under a 65 chevy truck I am rebuilding...
I am sad and glad i dont do that for a living anymore.
I dont know about salvage yards in Dallas, just some down here in hicksville!
The pick and pull yards around the metroplex do rock in my opinion.
Also when I had my salvage yard if you (bama) came in I would have broken a leg trying to help you. Not many girls visit and when they do they were treated very well! Most salvage yards are run by good ol boys.
now recycling yards diffrent. they are the big money ones that sell front clips and such. those are big buisness and most are run by very smart buisness men. (or women)
