Got a postcard in mail today.
first 10k are 210 Limit 2
next 10k are 225
next 10k are 250
then WHILE SUPPLIES LAST at 295.00
NO TICKET SALES AT THE GATE!
they will have will call though.
I think they are hitting there limit on the number of people that the BLM will allow. I thought it was 50k this coming year but not sure. there is some thing on BLM site about last years cap was 45k and they are allowed like a % increase each year until they reach ????? I cant find it now. It was there 5 year use permit they signed in 06?
I am afraid that there will be some heavy scalping going on...I know not all of us can afford to drop 210 to 250 a ticket on the 16th of Jan. maybe those of us that can afford to buy an extra ticket early, can re-sell it to a local burner closer to the event for face value?

Re: BurningMan 2008 tickets go on sale Jan 16th.
Mon, December 17, 2007 - 4:54 PMAny advice on buying online? I'm guessing it's just as crazy as a big TicketMaster online sell where you just have to be quick and patient?
And I'll refrain from comments on BM inflation....

Re: BurningMan 2008 tickets go on sale Jan 16th.
Mon, December 17, 2007 - 5:02 PMYes its just as bad and ugly as Ticketmaster...
the first 10,000 will go in under 2 hours, and only that long cause it's not ticketmaster so you que up.
See if I can explain.
last year you hit buy tickets right at the noon start time. you got a que number and you stayed on that page. when it came your time you bought your tickets. the wait could be from 10 minutes to an hour. Make sure you read the ticket page at BM site (its not up yet) and follow what they say as in if they recommend paypal have it ready ahead of time. Also make sure your browser works ahead of time if you can (some people the que would not work thru corporate firewalls)
Also, if you have trouble stay on tribes and post whats happening and someone usually has suggestion to try etc. It helped some people last year.
But dont dis pare the next 20,000 tickets will take a few days to sell out. its just the first 10,000 that are tough.
And dont refrain from comments on BM inflation...it stinks!

Re: BurningMan 2008 tickets go on sale Jan 16th.
Mon, December 17, 2007 - 5:10 PMNo ticket sales at the gate. Nice. I am going to guess they are in a position to do this because they are hitting the population limit. A number of people will like this since it will be seen as a daytripper/yahoo/frat boy deterent. As you said, scalping will be the negative impact though.
How to buy online? Be patient, don't count on getting a ticket for less than 250... -

Re: BurningMan 2008 tickets go on sale Jan 16th.
Wed, January 16, 2008 - 11:39 AMYo, I'm so sorry, I realize I'm not a DFW resident. I live in Boston. But I just found this board and joined tribe so I could ask you all a question. Is anyone else using OSX, and does anyone know of a browser that works?
I'm in line using Firefox right now and am in the process of waiting for a browser test for Safari. In Firefox I don't have the "You have X people ahead of you" message and I'm not sure whether I'ma ctually in line, or whether I have firewall problems, or what, and I'm afraid to try to relocate because if I do have a spot in line I don't want to lose it, but if I don't I want to get to somewhere that I can get one asap.
Anyone who gets this, would you let me know: (1) your OS? (2) your browser and version and (3) whether you're having success? Do you see the message "you have X folks ahead of you" and does it seem to be updating?
Thanks in advance

Re: BurningMan 2008 tickets go on sale Jan 16th.
Wed, January 16, 2008 - 11:57 AMLuke that doesn't sound good at all.
I did do a browser test with Safari this morning and it worked. That was however on a PC with XP Pro. So it was the beta Windows version of Safari. I also successfully tested IE7, FF and Opera all on XP Pro.
I would think you would have to see the ___ blank number of people in line in front of you. I would also expect FF to work for the ticket page on any platform. You do need to have cookies and javascript enabled.
BTW you can be a resident anywhere and be welcome on this tribe ;) -

Re: BurningMan 2008 tickets go on sale Jan 16th.
Wed, January 16, 2008 - 2:54 PMsee John that's how he rolls.
He baits you in with a seemingly kind gesture ("lemme give you a ride to BM06"), and then he uses that as carte blanche to do whatever he wants afterwards ("lemme give you a kiss or lemme stick it...")
You get the picture.
I wouldn't trust that guy as far as I could throw him, and I wouldn't get close enough to throw him to begin with.
(Unless it was over a cliff)
You better watch your @$$ now John.... Literally.
cautioningly,

Re: BurningMan 2008 tickets go on sale Jan 16th.
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 1:03 PMWell -- I couldn't get online and get tickets because I was at a meeting all day with clients.
I have a real JOB people - not one where I sit around all day and wait for little lines to roam across the screen.
I guess that means I can afford to buy tier 4 tickets, huh?
Screw all of you - I'm going to Bonaroo, anyhow. -

Re: BurningMan 2008 tickets go on sale Jan 16th.
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 1:07 PMI just bought my tickets to resell them on ebay.
if bmorg can make 2.5 million in salries and bonuses I figure I can make a cool profit off my cheap tickets!
see you at Bonaroo Button!
