here's a little more info. for yall:

Decompression takes its name from the underwater diving practice for returning slowly to the surface, so as to avoid decompression sickness, or the "bends." For many participants, the non-stop over-stimulus of a Burning festival is followed by a period of depression, dissastifaction, and/or withdrawal in the default world; and the prescribed cure is a shorter "Decompression" event that reconnects attendees with the Burner community and culture.
"Decompression" is a registered trademark of Black Rock City, LLC, which authorizes its use by officially-recognized regional Burner communities.

Purpose:
The Burning Flipside 2009 Decompression is for the people who contributed to Flipside 2009 and...

--For coming back from Flipside to the default world slowly, minus the nitrogen bubbles

--For spending time with people met at Flipside

--For building and fostering relationships

--Rewarding the people who worked so hard to make Flipside 2009 happen (ie: PETs, AFs, Leads, the CC, etc.)

Decompression is NOT:
--Just some party/rave
--A mini-Flipside
--An event that will cause work for those who volunteered at Flipside 2009

:)

It id becoming a bit of a mini Flipside...although the original idea of a decompression event was to give those that busted their ass volunteering during the Flip some time off and chill.

I have, for the past 2 years, brought a decent sized rig for dancing and such. Am considering it yet again, although the effort and $ and such required to do so, not to mention the fact that I have to keep an eye on the gear a bit during the event...has me wondering if I really want to do it this year.

Sunkyst is a bit tired from the Flip, still!

There is usually smaller art, and some sort of mini burn. The main stage is usually set up for live music, although some do end up spinning on it...

A much more mellow gathering, where you get to truly chill with peeps. I like the smaller events better than the bigger ones, personally.
